Anton was a friend when I let him in
He hid his eyes from my own but I did not ask why
He asked if it'd be allright if he held my knife
He flew into a rage and he came my way
After it was done I watched as he lie
staring into my eyes he did apologize
He said he had no choice that they took his wife
I watched him as he died and I picked up the knife
I began to pat him down looking for a clue
They reached me in my home but I don't know who
They took my best friend and they caved him in
Someone wants me dead perhaps for something I have said
I picked through my files I didn't have much time
Someone needs me gone and they'll try again
So I gathered what I could and I hit the street
I figued I could blend as a homeless man
I began to understand what was going down
It was not for what I said but for what I believed
Something tripped a flag in their database
Now I'm a wanted man in a murder case
I woke in a field of tall green grass
I headed to a corner store to see if there was word
All the headlines told of a love betrayal
They found his wife in my bed tied up and she was dead
A picture of my face and the story told
of a lover's game gone wrong with two people dead
And a writer on the run armed with a knife
For the herd you've been warned now be on the watch
